Detail Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrive cochin – Munnar ( NO MEALS)

Arrive Cochin. On arrival, proceed to Munnar (135 kms / 4 hrs). The area is famous for Cardamom, Coffee and Tea plantations. You may also enjoy beautiful streams, small and big waterfalls, Rubber-Pepper-Cardamom-Tea plantations and thick forests. God has blessed this country with incomparable beauty – to have everlasting memory of Kerala.  On the way visit Cheyyappara Water Falls, Blossom Park and Pothemedu view point. Munnar is a nature lover’s paradise with endless tea gardens and lakes on western ghat hills, basically it is a tea town.  Night at hotel.

Day 02 : munnar (B)

After breakfast, proceed to Eravikulam National Park, one of the best protected parks in the country (The Park will remain closed from 1^st Feb to 30^th Apr every year due to breeding of Neelgiri Thars).  Proceed to visit Echo point and Mattupetty Dam, Anamudi etc. Speed boating facilities are available here. Those interested can go for an elephant ride or Jeep ride in Munnar (OPTIONAL). In the evening you may watch (OPTIONAL) Kathkalai dance performance and “kalaripayattu,” a traditional war demo with sword and knife. Night at hotel.  

day 03 : munnar – thekkedy (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.  Later proceed to Thekkedy (130 kms / 4 hrs).  Thekkedy is famous for its artificial lake called Periyar and its wildlife park.  On arrival check into hotel.  Later proceed for boat ride in the artificial lake of Periyar (be sure to reach in time as the entry closes by 5:00 pm).  While sailing ahead you may spot some wildlife animals.  Return to hotel for overnight stay.

day 04 : thekkedy – alleppey and board houseboat (B/L/D)

Breakfast at hotel. Here also the Forest Dept. conducts wildlife rides and elephant safari for which one can explore. Private Jeep ride is also available. Proceed to Alleppey (135 kms / 4 hrs drive).   On the way you may stop for visiting a spices garden.  On arrival at Alleppey, board houseboat from the Jetty by 12:00 hrs. Lunch will be provided on board. This moving vessel will take you through the narrow canals of Vembanadu Lake. You will have a spectacular view of the backwaters and can watch daily activities of local people on shore. Embrace the cool breeze from the backwaters, Dinner and overnight on board.

day 05 : alleppey – cochin / out (B)

Breakfast on board.  Disembark from the boat at 09:00am. Proceed to Cochin (70 kms / 1 ½ hrs.) Later visit Fort Cochin, St. Francis Church, Jewish Synagogue, Mattancherry Palace etc. Evening free to walk around the Marine drive.  You may go for boating here, if you wish.  You can go for shopping including the Lulu Mall also.  In time proceed to airport for onward destination.
